22.02.21 I was delighted to be invited back to teach for Forest School of Karate as we continued the second part of my virtual "When Parents Aren't Around". The past few lessons have been concerned with learning how to grapple in order to learn how to fight against someone trying grapple. This lesson took everything to the ground. Again, within this context, everything is geared towards escaping the situation as quickly and efficiently as possible. Therefore, we began with a revision of transitioning through postures to reinforce fighting to one's feet. I also taught various important behaviour patterns on the ground to move and recover quickly whilst also being able to fight when compromised. We then covered escaping from asymmetrical ground-fighting, escaping from the top position and escaping from the bottom position.
