24.03.2023 This morning saw the start of a new teaching consultation course. My new client from USKO Karate in the Moreton region has booked me to teach courses on submission grappling/ground-fighting. After going through a series of specific warm-up exercises - forward/backward/sideways bear crawls, lizard crawls, gorilla crawls, frog jumps, crab crawls, single shoulder bridges (upas) and forwards and backwards snaking - I began him on the pin transition pattern. This is a simple exercise that emphasises positioning, transitioning and fluidity of movement from all the major pins. Here he will develop a solid base for controlling the top position. The pattern: side control - underhook scarf-hold - northsouth - underhook scarf-hold - side control - knee pin - side control - reverse scarf-hold - full mount - knee pin - back to the beginning. We worked just the one side direction, emphasising the importance of maintaining low hips and its associated pressure, using the leg scissoring action to move more efficiently without losing control. Each pin will be looked at in detail along with appropriate submission holds as well as escapes. However, as with any stand-up work, it is important me to get my clients used to moving properly and early on. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
