Having "quarried" a basic technique - in this instance a hooking or round handstrike - through a striking versus grappling pressure test, the student then trains the selected techniques from various restricted positions. Here we see the round strike utilized as a backhand strike, an uppercut and a forehand strike. He is held in positions that roughly resemble primal grappling holds i.e. the bear hug. This type of training shows both the limitations and versatility of the selected technique.
