Hour eight of my senior client's third Boxing course brought began with an assessment. We did this using a round of free sparring. I noticed he was staying in the pocket for too long and we need to work more on his outside footwork. We addressed this using the out-boxing game and the counter-punching game, both of which have one fighter moving in and out of range. He began circling out more, but I noticed he was often circling to his left without any form of covering fire. We worked on getting him to fire multiple jabs from this side and slipping to the right for jabbing on the right. I also noticed his lead hand defence needed more work, so we sparred twice pitting his lead hand against my rear hand.
The lesson was finished with heavy bag work, first repeating the lessons learned in sparring and then a speed and power burnout.
