Double Leg Takedown Layering (diary entry)

15.02.2024 My 1.5 hour client focused back on Wrestling. Tonight's focus was the double leg takedown and looked at ways to break this down into specific exercises. After a warm-up sport specific callisthenics and dynamic stretching we moved through the following three minute rounds:

  1. Leg tagging (looking for the double tag)

  2. Leg tagging with grips permitted

  3. Foot stepping only

  4. Foot stepping with grips permitted

  5. Foot stepping, leg tagging and grips permitted

  6. Ditto

  7. Tagging with the hip only

  8. Ditto

  9. Hip tagging, leg tagging and grips permitted

  10. Sparring from half-kneeling position (effectively in the double leg takedown position)

  11. Ditto

  12. Greco Roman sparring

  13. Freestyle sparring
