30.08.2022 My client's fourth hour of his current boxing course focused on swifter footwork. After a warm-up of dynamic stretching, muscle activation exercises and agility work on the ladder, we went through a series of two minute rounds inspired by Cuban boxing training methods. Round 1 - Forward and backward footwork at speed between two points. Switch to southpaw at the halfway time mark. This can be done as basic speed development drill with each advance or retreating length timed with a view to beat that time. Round 2 - Lateral footwork between two points. Switch to southpaw at the halfway time mark. Same note regarding speed development as above. Round 3 - Three steps forward one step back/three steps back one step forward. This is a coordination speed drill. Round 4 - As round 3 but with two pivot steps at the halfway line. Again, this is a coordination speed drill but with layered in movements. Round 5 - Shoulder touch drill (mirror sides) - each fighter takes it in turns to call single, double or triple touches. On their own timing then then advance with these touches. The other fighter uses backward footwork to avoid. This is a reaction drill and is restricted to footwork from the retreating fighter. Round 6 - Shoulder touch drill (reverse mirror sides) Round 7 - Shoulder touch drill (opposite sides) Round 8 - Shoulder touch drill (reverse opposite sides) The lesson was concluded with a three-minute round of boxing sparring. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
