22.06.2023 This morning, during my teaching consultancy, we deconstructed a pivoting combination. We followed the below progression: Jab, cross, pivot to the outside pawing cross or long guard, pivot to the inside, lead hook Jab, cross, pivot to the outside, long guard, pivot to the inside, lead hook Jab, cross, pivot to the outside, switch-kick to the body Long guard, pivot to the inside, lead hook, rear round kick to the body Jab, cross, pivot to the outside, long guard, pivot to the inside, lead hook, rear round to the body Key points: Pivot to the outside puts the fighter a 45 degree angle advantage over their opponent The pawing cross or long guard is used to cover the pivoting to the inside The pawing cross, loads the lead side's hook Small lateral step to reposition the lead foot before pivoting to the inside By extending one's guard, an opponent can be herded into another strike i.e. the long guard pushes an opponent into the lead hook. This also applies to the Muay Thai's kicks where the hands are almost always extended before executing kicks. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
