Hook Hunting Continues (diary entry)

Freddie Jab Cross Hook Uppercutimage00002

01.08.2024 Hour seven demonstrated why the left or lead hook is such an effective, risky and difficult technique to use. We continued working on it using a constraints-led approach. The rounds were geared towards my client finding opportunities to throw the technique.

  1. Placing techniques off angles. No punching as such but moving around a pursuing opponent and placing the gloves where there are openings.

  2. Defending against the straight right. With only the left hand my client sought out counters to the straight right.

  3. Body shots. Attack versus defence.

  4. Seeking the left hook with straight punch set-ups. This put him in a more proactive role.

  5. Body shot sparring
