The third hour of my client’s first Muay Thai Personal Training course continued our work in the clinch. Our lesson integrated all the main knee strikes from the previous classes: spear knees, curve knees and introduced the horizontal knee. I also worked more on other arm positions in the clinch, such as the body locks.
The horizontal knee is a great weapon to create space in the clinch, setting up other strikes and defending against incoming knees. In addition to the below rounds, we did some drilling with me just clinching and my client using horizontal knees.
We used the following rounds:
Clinch with only sweeps - plum only
Clinch with only sweeps - collar and elbow only
Clinch with only sweeps - body locks only
Clinch with round knees - body locks only
Clinch pitting spear knees against horizontal knees
Clinch pitting horizontal knees against spear knees
