The ninth hour of my client's MMA course shifted the focus to kickboxing and kicks in general. We began with the teep and focused ways to get better hip extension. This included keeping the heel down and using the swinging action of the same side arm. We then looked at the rear leg round kick, where the supporting foot's heel should be up when kicking to the mid-section and head. Again, we looked at the arm positioning and focused on ensuring the kick was fired directly rather than swung. Next, we went to the switch-kick and trained it on the teep first before using for the lead leg round kick.
With each kick looked at in application and against the heavy bag we combined them with punches and chained kicks together too.
