Kickboxing Personal Training - Introducing Round Kicks

The third hour of my teenage client’s Kickboxing Personal Training course introduced round kicks to sparring. We worked through several exercises that built up his confidence to defend and deliver this technique before integrating them into sparring. The round kick introduced in this kickboxing course is principally the Thai style in the beginner course, although other variations are introduced in more advanced, later courses.


Kickboxing Personal Training - The Lesson


We used the following 3-minute rounds: 


  1. Give and take low round kicks (placing with no defence to encourage flow)

  2. As above but with round kicks to the body 

  3. Low kicks to and fro with shin-checks

  4. As above with round kicks to the body

  5. Teeps versus round kicks

  6. Round kicks versus teeps

  7. Boxing versus round kicks

  8. Round kicks versus boxing

  9. Boxing with low kicks on focus mitts and leg pads

  10. Chaining round kicks onto boxing on the heavy bag
