Hour three of my new client's course was another morning session. We built on the previous behaviours taught of lateral head movement when moving from edge of range and circular or angled footwork when exiting to edge or out of range.
Providing a basic tactic, I taught my client to slip to his right and to flicker jab to his right. The right slip puts him on the outside of an opponent's jab and allows him to make an angled attack our counter-attack. Jabbing to the left is to provide cover fire from the opponent's power shot in the form of a straight right.
We mainly restricted sparring to jabs only, defence only against the lead hand and body shot sparring. The final one was introduce a safe way to fully engage with the flow of boxing and also get an appreciation for the close range the other types of training didn't really cover.
