My regular client of seven years began a new course tonight: martial arts cross-training. Of course, cross-training is only as good as its objective. In this case we are looking at it through the lens of Mixed Martial Arts competition. Kickboxing is a current focus in this MMA Personal Training course.

We used the following 3-minute specific sparring rounds:
One-for-one teep drill
One-for-one round kick drill
Punches versus kicks
Kicks versus punches
Kickboxing
Kickboxing wearing MMA gloves
Hold leg constraints-led approach - objective to take opponent down versus escape
As previous round
Then we switched to pads for three-minutes of cornering work - repeating round kicks to keep an opponent pinned into the corner.
The lesson finished with a full stretching and mobility routine.
