The final lesson of this course looked recovery as well as online threats in the soft skills section whilst the self-defence aspect dealt with ground-fighting.
Online threats is covered in more depth on my co-produced Animal Instincts courses. It's a very important component in most young people self-protection teaching due to how much virtual life is part of their culture. Understanding not to share personal information publicly and to be wary of anyone you have only spoken to online are vital takeaways as well the various dangers of being sucked into the various scams. Without going into specifics here, a good deal of online personal security can be boiled down to the same basic rules followed in the off-line world. Having said that, there are strong differences in execution that have to be addressed and regularly updated.
Recovery is one of the most over-looked aspects of self-protection training. We covered the "double tap" (maintaining awareness for secondary threats), checking for injuries, reporting incidents and the law and the aftermath.
The self-defence/physical side of training looked at escape from the mount position, which was drilled and then tested in a pressure game. We then looked at asymmetrical ground-fighting.
