Juniors
We had a more laid back lesson this week for no particular reason. There was no strict lesson plan. Everything sort of evolved. I mean that in the truest sense of the word – matters didn’t exactly progress; rather they mutated. The student taking the warm-up seemed to like sprawling and sitting through a lot. This then flowed into our flash pad work and a footwork chasing game. We then looked at a simple striking/sprawling combination.
The class sparring was divided up into boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and submission fighting.
Seniors
As per usual the seniors’ combat conditioning warm-up overlapped with the juniors warm-down.
We began combining some of the stand-up striking with clinch and ground. This began with some simple kickboxing combinations Mo Teague uses for World Combat Arts. These were then mixed in with freestyle pad-work and sprawls and sit-throughs. We carried over the sprawling and sit-throughs to a simple defence against a double-leg takedown. We then looked at the anaconda choke and alligator roll. Sparring was specific, starting from the sprawl/underhook position.
The warm-down included shadow boxing and medicine ball drills.
