09.06.2023 The penultimate hour of my teacher client from UKASKO Cotswolds' first course on Submission Grappling/Ground Fighting. This morning we focused on attacking from the knee-pin (knee-on-belly). Our warm-up, as per usual, consisted of various crawls and ground fighting muscle activation exercises followed by the pin-flow patterns without and then with some resistance. We then went straight to the knee-pin and began with attacking the arm. Whenever an Americana armlock is available, it's always good to go for it and then can be said for the guillotine. Although they are some of the most basic submissions they still end matches with alarming frequency, and it is their direct simplicity that often catches opponents by surprise. If the arm is initially defended the head might be open as the opponent tries to sit up and this is where the guillotine comes into play, transitioning into full mount. We then looked at various ways to use the kimura again, including wrist-locks and the kimura hold to straight armbar. All of these transition to other positions from knee-pin, usually variations of northsouth. With the kimura being blocked both the normal arm triangle and the darce choke are also great submission holds from the knee-pin. The lesson finished with three minutes of specific sparring involving my client attacking from the knee-pin position. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
