07.02.2024 My 1.5 hour client decided to switch his focus from Wrestling to Boxing tonight. We haven't had a review of this discipline for quite some time and it was good to be able to provide a decent amount of time using ecological dynamic principles to the explore the overall sport. After a warm-up of dynamic stretching and muscle activation exercises, we went through the following two-minute rounds:

  1. Foot-stepping (teaching to lead with the feet and also range sensitivity)

  2. Single shoulder tag with warnings (one person announces how many times from 1-3 they intend to tap the other person's shoulder just before they attack)

  3. Ditto in different stances

  4. Double shoulder tagging on the move

  5. Double shoulder tagging on the move with foot-stepping

  6. Ditto

  7. One-for-one flow sparring (trains reactions in the pocket and fast recovery)

  8. Ditto with lead foot occupying the same middle space at all times

After these exercises we extended the rounds to three minutes and focused on specific Boxing sparring:

  1. Body shots only

  2. Body shots with head shots permitted but head shots don't score

  3. Body and shot head shot combinations only score

  4. Defence or attack only

  5. Ditto

  6. Jab versus everything

  7. Ditto

  8. Free-sparring

A takeaway point in the defensive rounds was to watch for the shoulders. Shoulder movement is usually the best betrayer of an attack and a fighter can read the imminent punch ahead of time. The trick then is to time the counter. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
