18.10.2022 Today's lesson, as the title for this blog post implies, was very technical in its approach. We reviewed much of the Cuban boxing material, introduced new concepts and techniques, and then looked towards making everything flow better. This is house eight of a 10 hour course. We began with the square stance footwork and used it as means for easy transitioning into the southpaw and orthodox stances. This appears to be a strong feature of Cuban boxing's natural approach. They shuffled and step into these three positions for ease. An early demonstration of this is with lateral movement in the square stance where the boxer stops, slips and punches. We then went through the contralateral and ipsilateral movements off the square stance forwards and backwards, layering in combinations. Finally, I brought in the corkscrew punches. We attached them onto movement to provide better penetration and range. The lesson covered corkscrew jab with the front foot pivot, corkscrew cross and their very straight lead hook. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
