General Lesson
Today we began with the ground and focused on the leg triangle from guard. We began by deconstructing the basic set-up and then went onto some muscle memory drills. Finally we did two types of specific sparring with increasing levels of resistance. First this was done with the choke almost on completely and then it was performed from the basic set-up position. This was then followed with some guard passing sparring allowing striking. The lesson finished with free-sparring.
Private Lesson
Following on from the previous lesson we worked on knee strikes. We looked at its use when arms are trapped and then from a proactive perspective when the clinch position has been sought. Next we did some step-up knee exercises to work on extending the strike and to improve stability when throwing the knee. This was followed by a brief overview of being able to reclaim a knee strike if the leg has been caught. Then we did some impact development followed by knee pins and knee drops.
