Getting Back into the Swing with Boxing Personal Training

Boxing Personal Training

My senior client returned to Boxing after the Christmas layoff. I asked him what he would like to cover and he decided on head movement and general defence. I used the following 3-minute rounds.

Structured Sparring Rounds

  1. Defence only against jabs - working mainly to re-angle on the outside

  2. Defence only against jabs and crosses - training more on managing distance with footwork in addition to head movement

  3. Counters versus attacks - my client could now layer on punches when moving away from incoming attacks.

  4. Defend the centre against attacks - a game where my client was only permitted to fight within the centre squares of the gym against an opponent who can escape to the outside squares.

  5. Attack the centre - my client had the opportunity to play the role of the outside attacker.

  6. Free-sparring

Heavy Bag

The lesson was finished with rounds on the heavy bag working the principles of the sparring rounds and a burnout on speed and power punching.
