24.05.2023 Wednesday night's 1.5 hour private lesson continued our Muay Thai work on elbow strikes. After a warm-up, we moved into technical work. This began with pure elbow strikes on the boxing focus mitts. Then I chained the elbows onto punches to develop combinations and setups. The same procedure was then taken with the Thai pads mixing in kicks and knee strikes. Next, we moved onto clinch where my client placed elbow strikes whilst moving in the clinch. This was followed 5 x 3 minute rounds of full Thai rules sparring, using the traditional match concept as inspiration. The first two rounds were treated as warm-ups building to the most work being performed in the round 3 and 4, warming down in round 5. Elbow strikes aren't typically brought out until late in a fight and usually occurs in the match is quite tight. However, we changed this emphasis due to needing to have more time to develop experience with elbow strikes. We then performed a sport specific tabata: 2 x 20 mins knuckle press-up to cross arm tag 2 x 20 mins sit-up alternate straight punches to targets 2 x 20 mins right leg round kick exchange 2 x 2o mins left leg round kick exchange The lesson concluded with some PNF stretching using the contract/relax method on side and box splits followed by a gentle flow/release series of postures. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
