Hour eight of my client teacher's Submission Grappling course. Today we focused more principles, using a series of basic specific sparring rounds.
A key principle derived from this morning's lesson was hip control. It is a very common theme that my clients will probably endlessly hear me repeat but yet cannot be stressed enough. Amid all the chaos, distractions and flailing limbs that make up the unholy Lament Configuration Box that can be a Submission Grappling roll, controlling an opponent's hips and engaging yours is nearly always somewhere on the road to sanity. Get the hips right and nearly everything else seems to follow.
We warmed up with dynamic stretching, muscle activation exercises and sport-specific callisthenics before moving onto 6 x 2 minute rounds of sparring.
Feet on the hips asymmetrical sparring (long guard)
Ditto
Wrist control asymmetrical sparring (close guard)
Ditto
Arm-drag/over-hook asymmetrical sparring (mid-guard)
Ditto
We then looked to implement what had been explored and tested in 2 x 5 minute rounds of guard passing. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
