Muay Thai Personal Training
My veteran client, who has been consistently training with me since 2014, continued from our last session by directing our focus toward knee strikes in his Muay Thai Personal Training. We concentrated on these techniques and incorporated them into each specific sparring round. This tested straight, curved and horizontal knee strikes against each other and against all the other eight weapons of Muay Thai.

Knee Strikes
The knee strike, along with the round kick to the leg, is probably the most respected technique of Muay Thai. Unlike my Cotswold Karate client, who was being introduced to knee strikes, this client was more focused on training all the knee strikes under different conditions.
Specific Sparring Rounds
Round 1: Knee strikes only
Round 2: Knee strikes versus boxing
Round 4: Boxing versus knee strikes
Round 5: Kicking versus knee strikes
Round 6: Knee strikes versus kicking
Round 7: Boxing with knee strikes
Round 8: Kickboxing with knee strikes
Round 9: Clinch with knee strikes
Round 10: Clinch with elbows and knee strikes
Final Rounds
These last two rounds were full Thai rules, but we decided only knee strikes would score. This encourages strong integration of the technique.
The lesson finished with our usual set of nordic curl progressions to prevent hamstring injuries and then PNF stretching.
