21.07.2025

Hour six of my senior client's fifth Boxing course and we focused on an invaluable piece of training equipment: the mirror. Due to my client incurring what appears to be a slight muscular tear over the weekend, which is causing him discomfort from his neck to the bottom of his shoulder blade, I decided to work around it with mobility work, shadow boxing, agility drills and static stretching.

We followed this programme:

10 minute mobility training

Shadow boxing/agility training 3-minute rounds with 1-minute intervals of active rest (mobility exercises)

  1. Head movement and footwork

  2. Layering on straight punches

  3. Layering on hooks and uppercuts

  4. Cone drills - triangle forward and lateral movement with combinations

  5. Ladder drills - chopping, icky shuffle, ali shuffle, in and out punching

  6. Visualisation - shadow boxing against a taller opponent

  7. Visualisation - shadow boxing against an aggressive opponent

  8. Speed drills - straight punches, hooks and shoeshines

10 minute stretching
