07.08.2023 Hour four of my client couple's Muay Thai course and we focused on the round kick. If the teep is the most important technique in Muay Thai, the round kick is arguably its signature move. Of all the eight limbs, other martial artists respect the Thai version of the round kick and several have adapted and outright adopted it into their arsenal. Kyokushin Karate, Japanese and Dutch Kickboxing all absorbed it as a potent stand-up fighting tool. The kick is built for power and markedly different from the snappy Savate-style kicks of sport Karate, Tae Kwon Do and American Kickboxing. Key things to remember in its execution is to stand tall, use a full pivot, strike with shin, sit on the flat foot for low kicks and move up onto the toes for a mid-section and high kick. The hands are used to create torque in the core muscles and can also create a feint. We trained for 8 x 2 minute rounds focusing on trading round kicks, doubling up round kicks and checking round kicks. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
