This Triple C session was oriented towards improving explosive strength. Previously I had explained to this client how certain exercises could reinforce for the right muscle engagement behind many techniques. We warmed up on the focus mitts, covering Boxing, Kickboxing, takedown defence and striking from the ground.
Then we moved onto some power lifts. This began with the power clean, using the squat technique and the barbell. Of all the explosive exercises I regularly use this particular one. If it is performed in this fashion is great for loading on more weight. We then moved onto the clean and jerk, using the split stance technique and a dumbbell. This version of the exercise adds a great stabilizing dimension. Then we performed the snatch, using a kettlebell in the straight leg finish position. The session was completed with a series of plate jumps. These are to ensure there are enough forward movement exercises. We then warmed down with some PNF stretching.
