My second lesson on Monday evening was with my client couple, where they moved into their second hour on clinch. We are using Greco-Roman Wrestling as an inspiration for this first half of the course.

After a dynamic stretching and sport-specific muscle activation warm-up, we moved onto some collar tie drilling, encouraging better posture breaking and also clubbing. This was then brought onto wrist grabs and then the two were combined, experimenting with different versions and angles in a one-for-one sparring format. Next, we played a game of fighting for inside grips, but with locked hands being prohibited. After this both fighters began in a neutral clinch of their choosing (varying each time) and fought to secure the locked grip. This was followed by a game of fighting for positions behind the elbow. We then pitted taking the back against securing a full inside position.
