Submission Grappling Personal Training - A Couple Who Train Together!
My couple client's brought their Submission Grappling Personal Training 10-hour course to an end with a full review of the turtle position we have been covering over the past eight hours. Next week they will begin a new course with me, focusing on Shoot-Boxing, blending stand-up and clinch for MMA.
Submission Grappling Personal Training - The Lesson Plan
However, for tonight, after our warm-up of mobility and muscle activation exercises, I coached the following rounds:
2 x 5-minute rounds - specific sparring from the turtle position. The first two rounds consisted of my two clients attacking or defending the turtle position seeking pins, back mount or submissions versus sweeps, submissions or escaping.
2 x 3-minute rounds - begin in turtle position. One fighter seeks to secure a kimura grip on their opponent's arm to set up for an arm-bar whilst the other seeks escape.
2 x 3-minute rounds - begin with kimura hold in place from turtle position. One fighter seeks to achieve an arm-bar or reverse arm-bar whilst the other tries to break the grip.
2 x 3-minute rounds - begin from the front of the turtle position. One fighter seeks to connect their arms in a choke position whilst the other seeks a single or double leg takedown position.
2 x 3-minute rounds - begin with a choke position from the front (Darce, Peruvian necktie, anaconda etc.) One seeks to complete the submission whilst the other seeks to break the hold.
2 x 3-minute rounds - begin in back mount with seatbelt hold. One fighter seeks the rear naked choke whilst the other seeks to escape back mount.
2 x 3-minute rounds - begin in turtle position. One fighter seeks to trap their opponent's leg and touch it with their opposite arm, setting up a leg-lock (e.g. a knee-bar). The other fighter seeks full back mount.
All sections of this lesson finished with a third 5-minute round, where they both got to "shark tank" me. I had to either attack or defend each position and as soon a goal was achieved either side, I had to spar with the other client.
