Learning Kickboxing Combinations Through Live Practice
Many students learning kickboxing often fall into a trap of memorising techniques; they learn them in a parrot fashion. They struggle to understand how to apply these techniques in a real fight setting. This is where live practice becomes essential.

Two-Hour Workshop on Countering the Muay Thai Long Guard
In martial arts, the ability to adapt is vital. On Thursday, I had the pleasure of leading a two-hour workshop focused on countering the Muay Thai long guard at the Chimera Stable gym. This event, tailored for students from Hinnerup Karate in Denmark and Zanshin Karate in the UK, was more than a class; it was a hands-on learning experience filled with interaction and teamwork. Drawing from my recent teaching sessions, I integrated fresh insights into our strategies.

Personalised Martial Arts Training for You
When I first stepped onto the mat, I was overwhelmed by the sheer variety of martial arts styles and training methods. It felt like a maze with no clear path. Over time, I discovered that the key to real progress wasn’t just about learning moves but about tailoring the training to fit my own strengths, weaknesses, and goals. I returned to teach the second and final part of my course on managing social violence at the 'On' shop in Bicester Village. All my courses are bespoke in nature, meaning I can tailor the material and training to suit the needs of the store. Countering the Long Guard in Muay Thai: A Comprehensive Lesson Report
03.09.2025
My 1.5 hour client focused on using and handling the long-guard in Muay Thai and we also did some hamstring strength training.
Next week I am booked to teach a special two-hour session to my friends from Hinnerup Karate in Denmark who are visiting my gym as part of their training tour. I have been asked to address the long-guard and therefore, saw this to be a perfect time to work with my longest running client and solve the problem.
We sparred for 10 x 10-min
