Arm bar details continue

Hour nine of my couple client's course continued their work with the arm bar from guard. We looked at drilling versus live play and proved some definite problems with non-live practice not carrying over into live work.


For example, when drilling the arm bar as a flow exercise the way the kick off action on the hip is used is very different from live practice. You cannot extend the leg in the same way. We used two specific games:


Get from closed guard to knee-clamp versus standing up - an extremely quick game to initiate those two first actions.


Start with knee-clamp and wrist-clamp position. Get opposite leg around neck versus free hands.
