10.05.2023 Wednesday night's 1.5 hour lesson saw the arrival of new elbow pads so we had to test drive them in sparring before continuing our work with advanced kicks. In fact, we can expect to see this similar format going forward for a while. It has taken way too long but finally my clients are getting elbow pads. Muay Thai sparring has been somewhat compromised without the safe, full use of elbow strikes. On occasion I have brought in full-face head guards but they come with their own problems, notably lack of vision. These lightweight elbow pads do the job for some light contact work and help make sense of the various techniques and tactics of Muay Thai. After a warm-up that included new kicking ladder runs, using the ickey shuffle as a base for marching knees, we completed 4 x 2 minute rounds of technical and specific sparring. This was the same format as Tuesday's lesson, but I made a special emphasis on trying to land and defend elbow strikes. We then trained the spinning heel kick off both sides. The lesson finished with an extended PNF stretching routine, following the same approach introduced last Wednesday. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
