Hour two of my client's first kickboxing course introduced low round kicks. As is often the way, it was done through layering and games. We began with teep one-for-one sparring, followed by teeps and punching using the same format. This was then carried over with the rear leg round kick. I also had him practise against the heavy bag to set up the right angles, hand positioning and opening the hips. Next, we brought in shin-checks and repeated the same formula. Fully live sparring came up with just low kick sparring, followed by boxing with low kicks and finally teeps, boxing and low kicks.
