Head and foot movement

My new client began lesson two of his Boxing course with more work on head movement and footwork. We began in the mirror, going through the basics and then formulating a basic defensive plan.


He then went through the jabbing machine, getting used to slipping punches and moving to the outside. I then had him fire back with his own jabs in a jabs only round.


We went through the five ranges of Boxing - out of range, edge of range, long range, mid range and close range. I then worked from the centre, having him move in to land jabs before moving back out on an angle. This was repeated over several rounds, creating better range sensitivity.

He became aware of when he was off balance and when his footwork wasn't smooth.


The lesson finished on the heavy bag, taking everything from this lesson onto the bag.
