27.06.2023 Tuesday morning's teaching consultancy for Athena School of Karate focused on Muay Thai kick-catching and counters. We looked at two ways to catch a kick - a simple arm wrap and the Dutch block into a two-arm wrap. The former involves moving away from the kick and the latter into the kick. A key point of the kick-catching, as with all techniques involving a clinch in Muay Thai, is that the catcher looks to break the opponent's balance. We covered a face-plant sweep with a low round kick, pushing into the opponent and attacking the back of the supporting leg and breaking the posture before throwing a knee. For counters we first covered the simple rip out defence from a weak grip and hopping into a clinch, break and knee. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
