14.04.2023 I moved into hour three of this partner training MMA course. My view is that the best way forward with this programme is getting both participants conditioned in the full ranges of the sport. Usually clients who begin MMA with me have already completed courses in Boxing, Muay Thai, Stand-Up Grappling and Submission Grappling first. With this not being the case, the efficient way to shift between ranges is to keep everything activity based. After some dynamic stretching we moved onto ladder drills. The three areas I focused on this time were footwork, kick setups and takedown attack and defence. Noticing some hesitancy habits creeping in, I began some reaction training and methods to speed up decision making. These consisted of flash-pad drills first for Boxing and then for Kickboxing. Next I had them play heads and knees games over a series of two-minute rounds. These games teach defence against strikes to the head and shoots to the legs. They are then combined and teach the importance of shifting levels, feints and footwork. The final round contained the only activity that taught ground-fighting. One partner lay on his back to fend off the other with his feet whilst the other tried to touch his head. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
