16.02.2024 My client is on the sixth hour of his current Muay Thai class and was also present at my three-hour workshop last Friday. He is focusing on the muay mat style of fighting (heavy punching with low kicks). Maintaining the live training pedagogy model taught during this session we trained everything as specific sparring. Tonight I wanted to provide my client with a range of different styles to pit against his muay mat approach. After our dynamic stretching routine we engaged in five minutes of light flow sparring. Then we moved into the three-minute rounds with appropriate breaks to discuss primary tactics to use against different types of fighter: Round 1 - Muay Tae - focuses on landing a big kick, especially the round kick to the mid-section. They are comparable to Boxing's slugger. Tactics here include kick-catching to low kick the supporting leg and intercepting the kick on the inside to deliver punches. Round 2 - Muay Khao - focuses on landing knee strikes from outside and especially within the clinch. Tactics here include using the long guard to provide a proactive defence against attempts to clinch, angling off from spear knees to the inside with rear straights or to the outside with left hooks as well as inside and outside low kicks to the leg about to execute the knee strike. Round 3 - Muay Femur - focuses on technical fighting with a full armoury of weapons, however, is often an evasive counter-fighter and uses the teep a lot as well as high round kicks. Tactics to handle this type of fighter include catching the teep to off-balance and, like the muay tae, step inside the big kicks. Muay femur are more likely to throw the big kicks as counters, such as when a muay mat might jab. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
