My 1.5 hour client is still working on improving his defence but tonight we looked more into handling the Muay Thai range. Lately, despite confidence with the clinch and techniques in general, I have noticed that sparring was travelling too much without enough productivity. Unlike Boxing, Muay Thai works within a close range at all times. The teep pretty much dictates the extent of the range with nak muays keeping at the edge. There is not nearly much in the way of attacking and withdrawing as one might see even in the most aggressive styles of Boxing. Therefore, after our usual dynamic stretching and muscle activation exercises, I began our series of constraint-led 3-minute sparring rounds isolating teeps.
Teeps only
Boxing only (an interesting angle here, deciding on using regular Boxing or sticking to a more square-on Muay Thai approach)
All kicks only
Kicks versus punches
Ditto
Attack versus defence
Ditto
Lead side versus rear side
Ditto
Clinch only
Free sparring
Ditto
The lesson finished with static and PNF stretching. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
