My first lesson on Friday was the tenth and final hour of my client's Submission Grappling course. This course has been focused on half-guard (knee-shield, Z-guard, lockdown and quarter-guard) and butterfly guard (full and half). Tonight I wished to introduce X-guard but generally give my client an opportunity to use open guard attacks and defences, so we brought in hook/De La Riva guard.
After the initial sport-specific warm-up, we moved onto an X-guard transitioning drill.
Tonight's 5-minute rounds consisted of:
Standing touch head versus single hook on leg
Standing touch head versus double hook on leg
Standing touch head versus three-points of control
Remove points of control versus move to an attack position
