22.08.2023 My teenage client's second lesson in his first Muay Thai course saw him joined by his brother. This gave me an opportunity to build them both up to partner work. We followed the below procedure: Warm-up - Dynamic stretching and pose sequence Stance - Muay Thai stance is narrow with most of the weight distributed to the rear leg. Although Thai guards vary, the default principles are to keep it high. Footwork - We went through the forward, backward, lateral and pivot movements whilst retaining. Defence - Begin with a strong core to absorb testing teeps and to maintain balance. Then I layered on the cover against strong straight punches; shield blocks to stop hooks; body blocks to protect against body shots and the shin-check to intercept low and mid-section round kicks. I also introduced the parry to be used against jabs. Attacks - Jabs and teeps were taught from forward and backward footwork. This was then applied to the focus mitts and finally the two were able to exchange with some light one-for-one sparring. They exchanged jabs, teeps and then I introduced feints. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
