Restricted Round Kick (diary entry)

16.08.2023 The early morning Muay Thai private lesson brought my client up to her seventh hour. This time we focused entirely on the round kick and how restrictive training can improve its power as well strengthen other weaknesses. After a warm-up of squats and dynamic stretching, we looked at the low round kick and addressed its basic mechanics. Then we worked through the following exercises.

  1. Round kick from lying on the side - performed solo, with two levels resistance band and then to a kick shield.

  2. Round kick from a propped up elbow position - as above

  3. Round kick from a propped up extended arm position - as above

  4. Low round kicks from standing

  5. Low step round kicks from standing

  6. Jab rear low round kick

  7. Jab, cross, step round kick

We finished with a series of muscle activation exercises for my client train back home to help improve these kicks - fire hydrants, back leg raises, lateral leg raises, leg swings and scorpions. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
