My 1.5 hour client returned to Mixed Martial Arts training after a year of Muay Thai, Boxing and Wrestling.
After dynamic stretching and muscle activation warm-up, we did some short games to warm-up the ranges. These were shoulder tap sparring, body slap-boxing, one-for-one kick placement, grip fighting and touch-the-head guard passing.
We then completed the following 5-minute rounds of specific sparring with 1 minute rests:
Lead side only strikes versus counter-fighting. Objectives - clinch entry versus defence
Ditto
Wall clinch. Objectives - turn opponent versus takedown (begin in compromised position with takedown entry already achieved)
Ditto
Deep half-guard. Objectives - pass guard versus stand-up, sweep or submit
Ditto
The lesson finished with 15 minutes of static and PNF stretching.
