Slipping

Hour two of my new client's course on Boxing. Work continued on improving his head movement. I used the following rounds to build up his competence and confidence this area. We especially focused on slipping rather than ducking, rolling and pulling back.


  1. jabbing machine - exercise designed for client to autonomously move around a constantly jabbing hand

  2. defence only against jabs - now the jabs come in randomly, actively picking off the head

  3. body shots vs jabs - the client needs to get to the body whilst avoiding the jab

  4. focus mitts - slipping and punching combinations only

  5. focus mitts/belly pad - as above layering in body shots

  6. freestyle pad-work with an emphasis on head movement

  7. heavy bag - slipping based combinations

  8. heavy bag - freestyle

  9. heavy bag - burnout round
