Strikes to set up plum position

Hour seven of my MMA course for Cotswold Karate. This morning we switched levels to the double collar tie/plum/Thai clinch. Best practice here is to set up the entry with straight punches to the head. The collar ties should be thrown as if they are a successive one-two combination, changing to collar ties only when they reach the target.

We used the following 3-minute rounds:

1. two-for-two straight punching exchange

2. double collar-tie fighting for the centre position

3. punching vs punching/collar tie entry

4. ditto

5. clinch boxing - both sides fight to get a dominant entry

6. clinch boxing - as above but a takedown or knee strike confirms the win
