Submission Grappling 1 (diary entry)

10.10.2023 Tuesday night saw the start of my new client's first Submission Grappling/Ground-Fighting course. Tonight we focused on side control. The lesson began with some gentle dynamic stretches and I introduced Indian squats. We then moved onto some sport specific callisthenics/muscle activation exercises: Bear crawls (forwards, backwards and sideways) Gorilla crawls Lizard crawls Crab crawls Seal crawls and backward press-up jumps Snaking/shrimping Then we began on the side control position. We looked at the correct way to distribute weight and to block hip and shoulder movement whilst pinning the spine to the mat.
