Sweep Set-ups (diary entry)

29.01.2024 Hour five of my couple client's Muay Thai course. At their request, we continued work on the clinch and look more specifically at setting sweeps up. After some dynamic stretching, we got straight into our five minute full Thai rules flow sparring. We then moved onto setting a simple foot stomp tempo. This helps guide good Muay Thai rhythm and set up knees and clinching techniques. In essence, we start in a parallel stance, shift weight from one foot to another before taking a step forward and then delivering a knee strike. We adapted this for different angles as well as outside and inside the clinch. Weight shifting was also paired with upper body manipulation. Two-minute rounds of specific sparring was used to work off this rhythmic stepping, layering in sweeps and then knee strikes. https://clubbchimera.com/services/
