Wrestling Games (diary entry)

14.08.2024 My 1.5 hour client wished to continue with his Wrestling-based training so we layered onto the Greco-Roman inspired work from last week with some Freestyle techniques. After our warm-up we trained the following games.       3-minute rounds:

  1. Positional sparring/grip sparring (both players work to establish dominant positions without takedowns or lock-ups)

  2. Ditto

  3. Hook and duck (staying connected both players work to duck under the arm or behind the elbow)

  4. Ditto

  5. Hip throw/front headlock (staying connected one player attempts the hip throw or front headlock whilst the other seeks a body lock or neutral position)

  6. Ditto

  7. Referee position escape (one player starts with one leg up and attempts to get into quad pod position whilst the other begins with a seat belt grip and trapping one leg and attempts to pin)

  8. Ditto

  9. Referee position escape 2 (same as above but first player now attempts to stand)

  10. Ditto

  11. Free sparring

  12. Ditto
